I love seeing flatfenders in action. Had a chance to buy one cheap and blew it. Need to get ready for the next opportunity. Such gorgeously utilitarian vehicles.

I f there is a jeep god eventually there will be a trend to pull the crappy lifts with garbage bushings off of TJs and put pizza cutter 31s on them and low profile skid plates.

That’s actually been an idea of mine for a while: take a cheap TJ (once such a thing exists), remove the roll cage, put tractor tires on it, and make it look vaguely like a Willys MB.

The problem is TJs are now significantly smaller in dimension to the JK and are keeping value (more the usual wranglers) very well, especially if you find an clean one. I dont see them become “cheap” until the ones that were poorly modified have bald tires and death wobble from all of their crappy poly bushings being wallod out. Faced with almost 3k in maintenance and tires owners will start letting them go....but by then the AX15 will probably have syncros on their last legs because no one re geared when they fit those sweet 35s on.

All of which why i begrudjingly left the wrangler world and now happily live in the land cruiser world with a lexus lx470 with 33s that will raise 2 inches for trail use or lower 2 inches for g arage parking and had been pampered for much cheaper .

There was a pretty nice TJ with some solvable problems  that popped up near here for $2k this week, but unsurprisingly didn’t last long. There’s always hope.

I regret not getting older sooner and overbuilding my last one. Its was fantastic on 31s but then i went WAY over the top with an aw4 swap, hp30/8.8 chromoly swap, beadlocks, 35s, everything out of the Saavy aluminum product offering........then didnt like it any more :( it was too far gone to bring back to stock by then.

I swore id never own a jeep again but a family friend in his 60s just bought a new one (i dont even remember the alpha name yet ) and he only drives 2k miles a year and 5 mph under the speed limit at all times . We already called bids for when he is no longer able to drive or climb into it :)

That’s one of several nice things about the fact that Wranglers are no longer just for enthusiasts (if they ever were): far more unmolested ones will make their way to car lots.

I get so tired of people whining about Jeep posers. Sell all the Jeeps you can, FCA !

Turns out someone in my area tried to pull off the MB look with a YJ. Not too bad, although the automatic ruins it for me.

Honestly don’t know much about them. I’d assume so but ¯\_()_/¯ .
